It's always worth keeping in mind that the only reason public officials dodge information sharing, whether it be FOIL or simply responding to constituents, is that there is something or some things they don't want you to know about. A report could have been released under FOIL in about the amount of time it takes to warm up the copier.

Something else important is the absence of guardrails. That is, we elect representatives because they promise to look out for us. This is a city project; so, where the hell is Julie Menin? The most likely answer: auditioning for higher office by doing things that attract the media, even when the actions do nothing for her constituents. Whry is she getting a free pass, not even showing up for this meeting when only she has the authority to kick some ass for abused Roosevelt Islanders.

David Stone is correct. Now is the time to hunt down Ms. Menin and redirect her attention.

Julie has her eye turned up toward higher office. When Eric Adams came to Roosevelt Island, early on, she showed up with Rebecca Seawright. Seawright stayed, but Menin booked before getting caught in a photo with Adams, the first mayor she wanted to replace. I could barely get her to stand still long enough for an uncomfortable photo with Seawright. I think she showed up only so she could claim she did without getting involved.

It’s not hard to track down Julie.

She’s worked closely with a number of Rivercross residents for years around her campaigns. Access here, including three seats on RIOC, didn’t happen randomly.

Her absence isn’t a gap. It’s a choice. One that looks a lot more political than logistical.

Exactly the problem. Menin aligns with the Rivercross elites with scare attention to anyone else. The board seats have far more to do with Liz Krueger and Rebecca Seawright than with Menin. She has no standing with the state.
